After making successful business in Europe and Korea, General Motors launched Chevrolet Optra Magnum 2011 in India. Chevrolet Optra Magnum 2011, is a medium priced sedan car which is challenging the position of different  sedans of its kind in India.

This is low end sedan car which is designed for those customers who can not afford expensive and luxury sedan cars. It has good 1598 (cc), 1.6L VGIS I-4 engine and 5-speed manual transmission system which greatly contributed towards the handling and performance of this car. Chevrolet Optra magnum is available in both petrol and diesel powered engines and also gives you ample color choice because it comes in six colors. Modern safety features, comfortable interior, stylish design and impressive exterior are some prominent features of Chevrolet Optra magnum 2011.
Most of you would already be knowing the news that I took delivery of a 2011 make Diesel Magnum few weeks back. Had to suffer some commerical issue during delivery as the dealer - M/s Geeyem Motors, Kochi refused to offer CPCOO package for my car and started pushing the refund (CPCOO charges) to me. This is a famous 3 year/45k kms free maintenance package available for all chevy cars. Recently they made it a paid package (Rs.26,999/- for Diesel Magnum). Actually, this package is to be specifically applyed by the dealer in the order form which they submit to the company! In my case, they missed this part and thatz how the issue cameup during delivery time. Took very tough stand and finally they sought special permission from the regional head of CSIPL and got approval for my car. Had to really raise my voice there for few hours for this.
Otherwise the delivery procedures were smooth and clear.

Well.. now its time to put my ownership experiences of this car. The car covered 1000kms now and has been sent to Geeyem Motors for 1000 kms Service. I've set the run-in period till 3k and so the car is still being pampered.
Max speed being maintained is 80km/hr @ 2000 rpm max. This is the first time am owning an highspeed 2000cc diesel engine and so dun wanna take chances unlike the smaller size / slow speed engines.

Few points I have noted are as follows
(1) Engine oil level is at the middle point right from day 1.
(2) Slight side pulling to left.
(3) Dripping of a/c water on front passenger side
(4) Wrong headlight alignment.

As usual, the "Advisor Kid" talks smart and tries to getaway saying something or so to all of my questions. He is clueless whether the company fills engine oil to the top level of dipstick or only till the middle point.
Anyhow, he topped it up now and now I gotta check weather there is leak or consumption.

He pulls out the usual talk of road slope when the car is taken out to the road for test. Finally, he gaveup and called the Shop Supervisor to answer me. Same stuff.. but this guy understood my point and concern and he assured required support at 5k kms service if the problem persists! Says, it might self correct after some shake down drives when brakes, suspension and steering systems starts working smoothly.

Dripping of water was due to dislocated drain pipe. They fixed it right and hope thatz over.

They have a head light aligner and the kid said he will correct the beam with aligner. Requested him to do that manually on road, when it get dark. These guys are not interested to stay back at night to set right the issue. Says they can do it only using aligner. The company fitted 55W halogens are basically useless and so juz asked him whether they can alter it to 100/90 halogens. Says it will cause damage to the headlight switch!! Dont agree with the relay theory and the likes. Smart fellow offers an alternative to that with Osram HID's for Rs.11k )

Another thing i have noticed is the tyre pressure figures!. The stock tyre size is 195/60/R15 and the recommended tyre pressure is 28 PSI allround. !!!! Any clue bout this? Anyways, I raised the pressure to 32(F) and 30(R) today. Gotta drive it for some distance to check the difference. I believe the tyres will flex badly with 28 PSI esp coz of that heavy engine.
The same tyre on a petrol swift with 6.5J alloys asks for 32 PSI atleast!

Liked the car otherwise, and still believe that this is a decent sedan for any type of driver. Am yet to push it and will know the limits only when I start doing that. Planning to switchover to 16" wheels and tyres at the end of run-in .
Chevrolet Optra Magnum is a medium priced sedan that is available in 6 trim levels. It also features a 1598 (cc), 1.6L VGIS I-4 engine along with a 5-speed manual transmission system that supports mainly in the performance and handling of this vehicle. The vehicle is also available with petrol and diesel powered engines along with 6 different colors which is one of the main advantage. The 2011 Chevrolet Optra Magnum is best for the customers who look for inexpensive and luxury sedan cars with modern safety features, stylish design and impressive exterior and comfortable interior along with few other important features.
